Laughing Buddha Yoga is excited to be a part of your journey into yoga. While this journey looks different for each of us, it is our intention that each student feel welcome, valued and free to express who they are. It is amazing to watch students as they gain strength, flexibility, endurance and confidence as they see their own growth and transformation. Why Laughing Buddha? (A message from Dawn)
 

Much thought went into selecting the right name for my studio. While visiting my dear friend and acupuncturist, she noticed a charm bracelet I was wearing. It was left to me by my Mom, who had passed away in 2000. The charms were from Mom's travels overseas. My friend pointed out the laughing, or happy, Buddha charm. After hearing the meaning of the laughing Buddha, I realized this was the feeling I wanted for my studio. 

 

Buddha is considered one who has attained enlightenment, and aren't we all looking to be our best selves, to be enlightened? And the Laughing Buddha is also about remaining playful and enjoying this journey and its highs and lows. His big belly was symbolic not of how much he ate, but of his life force.  The Laughing Buddha carried a treasure bag from which he gave out riches to the poor and needy at will.

 

It is my intention that students at Laughing Buddha Yoga will feel a sense of joy and happiness while on their inner path to enlightenment, and draw from the treasure bag whatever they need to continue on their path. 

 

The letters LB are my Mom's initials in reverse. I think it would bring her joy to know that  Laughing Buddha Yoga is named in her honor. Thank you Mom, my journey began with you.

Why Yoga?
 

Maybe you have just begun your yoga journey. Maybe you have been thinking about it for some time, but haven't quite yet made it through the front door. After all, it can be a bit intimidating walking into a yoga studio for the first time. What in the world goes on in there?  

 

Movement, breathe, balance, strength, flow, stillness, learning to find your center and how to bring it into your daily life. The first step is just to walk in the door, pick a class that sounds right for you and give it a try. It is never too early and never too late to start.

 

All of our teachers want you to feel successful during your practice and to enjoy your experience. Isn't even the word "practice" amazing? You don't have to be perfect. There are not too many places where we allow ourselves just to be who we are right in this moment. To let go of trying to be better, smarter, faster, thinner, whatever the "er" is for you. With yoga, you get to let it go, if even for a short while at first. And through that process of letting things go, we start to see life a little (or a whole lot) differently. 

 

Each student's journey is different, but so many share with us that they quickly experience such amazing benefits. We hope that you find exactly what you need at Laughing Buddha.
